Boot2Docker
Linux distribution made specifically to run Docker containers
Boot2Docker is a lightweight Linux distribution made specifically to run Docker containers. It runs completely from RAM, is a ~45MB download and boots quickly. Boot2Docker is designed and tuned for development. Using it for any kind of production workloads is highly discouraged. Installation should be performed via Docker Toolbox which installs Docker Machine, the Boot2Docker VM, and other necessary tools. Boot2Docker is used via Docker Machine (installed as part of Docker Toolbox) which leverages VirtualBox's VBoxManage to initialise, start, stop and delete the VM right from the command line. Docker Machine auto logs in using the generated SSH key, but if you want to SSH into the machine manually (or you're not using a Docker Machine managed VM), you can do so. Boot2docker uses Tiny Core Linux, which runs from RAM and so does not persist filesystem changes by default. -

NodeOS
Lightweight operating system using Node.js as userspace
NodeOS is an operating system built entirely in Javascript and managed by npm. Any package in npm is a NodeOS package, that means a selection of more than 400.000 packages. The goal of NodeOS is to provide just enough to let npm provide the rest. Since anyone can contribute to it, anyone can create NodeOS packages. NodeOS is a Node.js based operating system, built-off of the Linux kernel. Core development is being done in layers. There could be some differences to adjust better to each target platform, but the general structure is barebones custom Linux kernel with an initramfs that boots to a Node.js REPL, initramfs Initram environment to mount the users partition & boot the system, and usersfs multi-user environment with the same behaviour of traditional OSes. All the layers are bootable, leading barebones to a raw naked Node.js REPL prompt as PID 1, while initramfs exec actual NodeOS code to isolate user code from the core system. -

BASH Shell Tool to Do GNU/Linux System Build
Does a complete cross-build using seven very small shell files and a hundred source tarballs. The tool is very simple to read and simple to customize. The tool has only one or two configuration variables. I believe this project can be as powerful as build-X.sh; the amazing shell program that builds an X Server. The tool needs to be extended and simplified: It needs input and feedback from additional people willing to check it out and help/comment if possible. The programming's lower-bound (the simplest it can get) is to catenate all seven shell programs into one; the programme's upper bound (the most complicated I want to make it) is to do the list function ( ./exe.sh -l) in colour.
